I started my career in the beauty
industry over 20 years ago, living my dream as a busy stylist and wedding
artist. But behind the scenes, I was silently struggling. At just 27 years old,
I faced a devastating health crisis. I was double-diagnosed with H. Pylori and
ultimately required a hysterectomy due to Stage 4 precancerous cells, fibroids,
and severe varicose veins on my uterus. Only one ovary remained — and while my
health began to stabilize, my hair continued to fall out at an alarming rate.
As a stylist, the irony was painful. I found myself relying on wigs and
extensions to cover the very thing I once helped others celebrate — my hair.
And despite my recovery, the hair loss only worsened. At 35 years old, after
years of unanswered questions, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I then
underwent surgery to remove my remaining ovary and was placed on hormone
replacement therapy and levothyroxine.
The physical and emotional journey had been long, but I refused to give up
searching for solutions. That’s when I discovered the United States Trichology
Institute (USTI) and became certified as a Trichologist — a specialist in hair
and scalp disorders. Seven years later, I’m proud to have been among the first
trichologists to educate and empower people on TikTok, sharing real stories,
real science, and real hope. But my mission didn’t stop there.
Knowing that true hair health starts deep within, I returned to school to earn
my degree in nutrition. I am now preparing to continue toward a Master’s in
Biomedical Sciences, with plans to advance into Naturopathic Medicine or
Functional Medicine.
